I am very proud and excited to be travelling to see my friend Dean Melbourne’s solo show this Friday in Birmingham. I’ve been following the development and install of this show and I am not just being biased when I say it is quite exceptional! The show is taking place at Bryan Priest Newman Architects following his relationship with the team there where he ran a re-introduction to life drawing course to enable them to re-engage with drawing on a fundamental level.
This exhibition within their working space presents his latest opulent works on paper (including the painting that sold instantly the first time it was unveiled at Debut Contemporary gallery in West London!) alongside site specific pieces that explore the status and power of drawing.
Installation of first site specific work in progress yesterday
