Retreat at The Anchor in Porlock

Miller’s The Anchor, Porlock Somerset

Im a huge fan of Martin Millers hotels. A couple of years ago I blogged some pictures of my stay at Glencot House  the moment I first encountered and fell in love with Millers unique residences. Glencot House was something quite incredible to visit but has now been turned into a private residence. The Anchor at Porlock has a more intimate feel but doesn’t suffer for it. It doesn’t have the grand piano decaying in the extensive grounds but it is nestled right on the pretty Porlock Wier harbour. It is filled with the antiques and curios Millers hotels are known for, and the combination of the candlelit rooms, log fires, and genuinely lovely people working there make it incredibly welcoming and romantic.

Stunning walks. Porlock Wier.

Colbone Church. The smallest (and most beautiful!) church in England. Inside a list of their rectors from the 13th century to the present day. A committed 45 minute uphill trek through woodland is required to attend a service here.
